A Close-Up Look at Jupiter's Dynamic Atmosphere

Weekly Horoscope June 13th – 19th

June 10, 2021 By //  by Xander

This week the Moon figures prominently affecting our emotions and for some, their internal security system.  As if all the celestial happenings this year haven’t been enough already.  On the 13th the Moon moves into Leo bringing about a desire to be outgoing, to get out and do something.  Those with a Leo Moon will feel this more keenly than others.  Those with a Leo Sun might feel the need to shine their light on the world.  The world is beginning to open up a little more, and our forced seclusion over the last year could heighten this desire.

Moon conjunct Mars

Before you rush out to plan an outing with friends, keep in mind that this movement is happening with a few other key celestial alignments.  The Moon is conjunct Mars at this same time, and both of them are also conjunct the Midheaven.  These other two alignments will heavily influence how this affects us.

Mars involvement will tend to make us a little more irritable than normal.  Mars also has a tendency to make trivial things seem more important than they are.

The Mid-heaven

The mid-heaven involvement can make you feel more vulnerable and have your mind focused on personal fears and petty personal motives.  Being in the sign of Leo amplifies all of this.  If you are a secure person, this won’t have much of an effect, but if you have vulnerabilities in these areas, the heavens are going to point out areas that need work.

With Mars conjunct the mid-heaven, the ego gets involved.  It can cause impulsive actions that stem purely from an egocentric place.  While this alignment is great for athletic activities and anything that requires you to be original and innovative, keep an eye on the motivation.  If the ego figures prominently things might not go as planned.

Mars is also trine Neptune until the 13th, and the Sun is square Neptune from the 13th to the 21st.  This adds to the issue of small annoyances getting blown out of proportion.  It could have a critical eye turning inward.  This isn’t a good time to make major life decisions, especially where relationships are concerned.  While leaving dirty towels on the floor might be annoying, is it really worth breaking up over?

Mercury Semisquare Mars

On the 12th Mercury came into the influence of Mars semisquare.  This becomes exact on the 15th and ends on the 20th.  Mercury being the messenger could bring a project your way that lets your intellect shine.  Be sure to check out the project thoroughly before accepting.  This aspect has associations with growth issues, so whatever you are being tasked with could have some hidden issues.  Once you look at the project completely you will be able to determine if your abilities can see it through.

Venus sesquiquadrate Jupiter

On the 13th Venus begins moving into a sesquiquadrate with Jupiter that is exact on the 16th and ends on the 19th.  This transit is a good one.  It brings about favorable indulgences and things you enjoy.  This could be a romantic interest, or just staying home and spoiling yourself.  Depending on the houses in your specific chart, it can put the light of expansion (Jupiter) and love (Venus) on any part of your life.  If a new love interest pops into your life during this transit, keep in mind that it could be a fleeting infatuation, and let time tell the real tale.

Moon moves into Virgo

On the 15th the Moon moves into Virgo.  This placement shines its light on the ability to organize and gives energy to anything that requires a methodical structure, or a system of rules.  Attention to detail is the order of the day.  The moon will make this focused on the personal side of things.  If you are planning a gathering, bringing a Virgo in to help will make sure that the details are well thought out, and creature comforts are a highlight of your happening.

Moon moves into Libra

The 18th has the Moon moving into Libra.  Your focus will turn to living in peace and harmony.  This will ease the irritation from the Sun/Neptune transit and could put your focus on domestic harmony and balance.

Jupiter Retrograde

One last note.  Jupiter stations (stands still) on the 17th and begins retrograde on the 20th.  This will last until the end of October.  A key point here is retrograde motion isn’t bad.  The actual planet isn’t moving backward, only our perception of it from earth.

Jupiter retrograde is a time for inner growth and introspection.  Since Jupiter expands things, this can bring about movement in growth ventures.  Those ventures can be anything from personal growth to altruistic concerns and social consciousness.

This is happening in the sign of Pisces, moving back into Aquarius.  Jupiter in Pisces is about generosity and optimism.  Jupiter in Aquarius is idealistic and hopes for change.  We start working toward a better world.  I see this as a time for us to focus on the promise of a future with more economic equality globally.  Don’t be surprised if there are sudden shifts in global priorities toward the end of October.

The economic crisis brought about by Covid isn’t over, and world leaders will be forced to deal with the longer term economic repercussions when both Saturn and Jupiter begin their forward march through the sky again in late October.

Annular Solar Eclipse

Weekly Horoscope – June 6th – 12th

June 3, 2021 By //  by Xander

Let’s get this week’s horoscope started with the Moon moving into Gemini on June 8th at 12:55 pm CDT.

Moon Moves into Gemini

With the moon representing your emotional disposition and your intuition, and Gemini your curiosity and enthusiasm for mental stimulation, this transition will bring about a desire for understanding, clarification, and study.  Gemini brings a desire to share this with others in personal conversations.

The backdrop for this is that the Moon is square to Jupiter.  Jupiter brings benevolence and generosity along with contemplation.  It promotes optimism and positive thinking.  The square aspect can highlight growth and this being a second square of the entire transit makes the contemplation of progress come to the forefront.

Your attention might turn to curiosity and enthusiasm for things of a spiritual or deeply personal nature.  You might contemplate personal or spiritual growth and wish to share this with those close to you.  You may wish to have close friends visit, or go to see them now that our world is opening a little more to in-person contact.

Once again with Mercury being retrograde, it heightens the opportunity for misunderstandings and miscommunications.  Be careful of reacting too quickly and watch for arrogance or rigidness in your views.  Allow others to hold their views without judgment toward differences.  This is especially true for those with a difficult Moon placement such as Moon in Scorpio.

Annular Solar Eclipse

On the 10th we have the annular solar eclipse.  This is commonly known as the Annular Ring of Fire eclipse because the sun isn’t completely obscured.  There is a ring showing around the edges.

This particular one won’t be visible to us here in Central Texas.  The image below shows the path of the eclipse and the visibility range.

Annular Solar Eclipse Path Map
The small red dot shows the path of the annular solar eclipse, while the much larger gray circle depicts the region of a partial solar eclipse.
Image from Earthsky.org

We also have Mercury conjunct the Sun and Moon during this eclipse and this all happens in the sign of Gemini.

A word about eclipses and horoscopes.  It is often said that they are difficult times, but that is not necessarily so.  If the eclipse has an aspect (specific angle) to a planet in your natal chart, it puts that planet in a high energy (activated) state, whether good or bad.  So the difficulty of the eclipse depends on the positions of your natal planets.

The natal chart planet in this state is considered activated, but the energy is stored.  This energy won’t be actualized until that planet is aspected later by another planet, typically Mars or the Sun.  This later aspect is considered the trigger for the stored energy from the eclipse.

It would take a book to go through all the possible combinations of this.  I am sure that books are available that explain this.  I won’t be covering it here.

Since this eclipse happens with Mercury in conjunction, it would be logical to assume that those with Mercury prominently placed in their charts should look into how this might trigger later in the year.

With Mercury also retrograde  I will once again suggest patience regarding communications with others.  The 10th through the 12th has a high potential to be a time where communication with others is strongly desired, but can easily go awry.

This extends to your inner communication as well.  Be aware that during this time your inner dialog might tend to be more critical, especially if your Mercury is in Pisces.  If your Mercury is in Virgo you may have a difficult time shutting down your “monkey mind”.  Your attention to detail may be over the top, and trap you into details that prevent the completion of projects.

The eclipse for the most part will be a time of renewed energy and physical vitality.  Group efforts are highly favored because your sensitivity to other’s feelings are heightened.   This could be a time of peace in your relationships as they might work more smoothly.

The annular eclipse is the New Year for your inner life.  It is a good time to make personal changes.  This is a time of the year where positive personal changes are “blessed” by the divine.  So bring out those New Year’s resolutions and get started if you haven’t already.  The heavens are bringing energy, vitality, and blessings to your movement toward becoming a more whole and integrated person.

Moon Moves into Cancer

On the 11th the Moon moves home to Cancer.  This once again brings your focus inward supporting the journey begun with the eclipse.

This will help you keep your focus on your feelings, ideas, and desires.  If your Moon is in Scorpio it might be best to keep these thoughts to yourself for a bit, even if the desire is to share.  The close aspect of the Sun still remaining from the eclipse can make you a little extra sensitive if your ideas aren’t enthusiastically received.

At the same time, Mars moves into Leo and will stay there until July 30th.  These two fiery elements together can make for some self-assertive bursts that might not be received as well as you hoped.  Avoid overconfidence and your temptation to rule absolutely. Your move into a leadership role will be received in a much better light with a softer touch.

Sun Square Neptune

We finish up the week with the Sun square Neptune.  This aspect has an influence that will last from the 6th to the 21st with the exact aspect on the 13th.

For some, this aspect can create low energy either physically or psychologically.  If it affects you in that way, take a day off, do some self-care.  This aspect can also stimulate your innate idealism which could produce some beautiful moments in your life.

If your Sun is in Libra or your Neptune in Virgo, you might be more susceptible to the low-energy aspects of this transit.  Make plans now to do a little self-care.  Make your favorite comfort food.  Plan a spa day, or make time for a long bath with a good book.  Whatever self-care means to you, the 13th is a good day to make time for it.

Constellation Pisces

Weekly Horoscope May 30th – June 5th

May 28, 2021 By //  by Xander

This is good for all sun signs, these planetary movements affect everyone in a similar fashion.  Your particular chart might show an emphasis on one thing over another, but without doing a chart for each person that can’t really be determined accurately. This is for entertainment purposes only, no results are guaranteed, your mileage may vary, and any other necessary disclaimers to make my lawyer happy.

On June 1st the moon moves into Pisces.  This might have you wanting to daydream or seek comfort in the familiar.  It could also have your intuition working overtime.  If you find yourself a little irrational or focusing on negative emotions, take some time to nurture yourself.

With Mercury also in retrograde, it is likely that an old emotional wound will come up to be dealt with.  Give yourself support and realize that your emotions might not be completely rational right now.  This will pass when the Moon moves into Aries on the 3rd bringing in an action-oriented time.  Continue to watch for impulsive behavior.  Aries is decisive but can act too quickly.

On the 2nd Venus moves into Cancer.  This puts the focus on the home and your personal environment.  This is a great time to allow your creativity to work on making your home cozy and inviting.

It could also put the spotlight on your love life.  Once again with Mercury in retrograde, there is a risk of tensions in relationships.  The desire for harmony could be disrupted by communications issues that Mercury retrograde brings about.  Make sure you communicate effectively with your partner and be patient with misunderstandings.

Venus is also in aspect to Uranus until June 3rd.  Uranus brings about sudden things that come like thunder.  Venus is about relationships of all types.  Venus is also in aspect to Saturn at this time.  So be cautious of snap decisions regarding any type of relationship, personal, business, or otherwise.

Decisions made in haste now might be regretted later on.  It is best to think things through and wait until the aspect passes before making a decision, if possible.  Saturn makes it easier to have self-discipline but this particular aspect might make you feel like you have been waiting long enough.

Mercury in Color

Weekly Horoscope – May 23rd – 29th

May 22, 2021 By //  by Xander

There is a lot going on in the heavens over the next two months.  I am also seeing a lot of really sensationalist stuff about it.  So I thought I would post something a little more realistic.

Saturn Retrograde

Saturn turns retrograde on May 23rd in Aquarius and lasts until October 22nd.  This starts the two month season of celestial happenings.  This transit usually marks a time when we tend to agree to things that we shouldn’t.  We are hasty to say yes, when we really should think it through a little more.  So take time with your decisions, even if you feel it needs to be done quickly.

This isn’t a good time to incorporate a new business unless the plans have been in the works for a while already.  It is a good time to review existing plans and make adjustments where your work or career is concerned.  Retrograde periods in general are a good time for “re-“ activities.  Review, readjust, renew are the activities that are supported by retrogrades.

Lunar Phase

At the same time, we are in the last quarter of the waxing moon before the full moon and eclipse on the 26th.  During this part of the lunar cycle, we are asked to trust and have faith even though the future might not seem clear.  Our emotions and energy might lean toward the lower end of the spectrum, but have faith in yourself and the plans you have put into place.  Not everything you are feeling is what it seems on the surface.

Take time with your emotions. If you are down, know this will pass.  It is a natural part of the cycle of energy.  It is a time of lower energy emotionally.  Recharge your emotional batteries, that is what this time is for.  Your temper might be a little shorter right now with the Sun’s aspect to Mars.  Slow down and think before you act.  Make sure that you actually convey what you mean to convey.

Lunar Eclipse

Next up is the Lunar eclipse in Sagittarius on the 26th.  Lunar eclipses block the sun’s light from reflecting on the earth.  As such, your personal light might be blocked by earthly concerns.  There might be a period of struggle with ideas coming into expression in the world.

You could possibly experience a pessimism about the state of the world in relation to your life.  Who would blame you with everything going on in the world right now.  Just realize this isn’t a reality, it is just a feeling and it will pass.  Make time for fun things and remember to laugh.  We can’t be serious all the time, fun and laughter have just as much importance in in our lives, make room for them.

When the moon moves into Capricorn on the 27th your determination and patience will return.  With the moon in Capricorn it is a good time to focus on one goal you want to accomplish in the next month.  Plan, and move forward taking one step at a time.  You will accomplish it.

Mercury Retrograde

The last big happening is Mercury turns retrograde in Gemini on the 29th.  This will last until June 24th.  This is where most of the misinformation abounds.  Mercury retrograde isn’t what it is made out to be.  It happens three times a year, every year.  If it was the catastrophe it is made out to be we would all feel like we were living on the Titanic.

What Mercury retrograde actually means is communication issues and mental perception and processing issues.  Mercury is the working mind.  With it happening in Gemini the focus is on thinking.

So things might feel as though they are moving too fast.  There might be lots of distractions and over thinking.  Slow down.  Think before you speak and make sure you are saying what you really mean.

Your schedule might feel a little overwhelming.  So it might be wise to look at it and make room for yourself.

Your mind might be running a million miles and hour.  Take time to meditate, slow it down and tame the monkey mind chattering at you constantly.

Mercury retrograde is a great time to finish up projects and catch up with old friends.

This retrograde has Mercury in aspect to Venus from the 28th to the 29th.  This will put the focus on what our heart desires for a couple of days.  This isn’t just love interests, it is anything our heart desires.

Since retrogrades are good times for “re-“ activities, go back and pull out that plan for your future that you always wanted.  It is time to review it and see if it still fits.  Rewrite it to include where you are in your life now.  Consider plans to readjust your life to include more things on that list.

Wrap-up

All in all, the remainder of the month of May is about focusing on yourself.  Your goals, your heart’s desire, what you want in life.  It isn’t a good time to take action, but it is the perfect time to look at it again.  Even if it isn’t a written plan, we all have that “if only” list in our heads.  Review it, refine it and let it perk for a while.  Later in the year, it will be time for action.  Right now it is time for reflection.  Use the time wisely.

Also remember, it is easy to miscommunicate right now, with yourself and with others. Take the time to make sure what you say is what you mean, and be kind. You aren’t the only one going through this. If someone says something that upsets you or is out of character, remember it might not have been meant how it sounds. It is ok to ask for clarity.

Astrological Predictions for 2021

Astrology Predictions for 2021

May 14, 2021 By //  by Xander

I have been delving back into astrology of late. It has always fascinated me and now that my 20-year hiatus is over I am digging in on a deeper level. Interesting how the pandemic has brought me back to things that brought me such great joy so long ago. Here is a little background then I dive into my Astrology Predictions for 2021.

What is Mundane Astrology

The astrology I employ is not your typical newspaper astrology. This is the deeper study of the planets and how they relate to happenings in our world. This particular branch is called Mundane astrology. The name is derived from the Roman word Mundus meaning, “the world”. This type of astrology has been around for over 5000 years, but the texts that began to define it as a stand-alone discipline began with Ptolemy. His stand-out work known as “Tetrabiblios” was written in the second century AD. This is the astrology Kings and Popes had at their disposal in ancient times.

There are other branches of this type of astrology which I will be elaborating on at a later time. Right now I would like to put out my first prediction based on this study. I used historical data from star charts and connected those with what was happening in the world in the past. The data used spans over 1000 years. I have correlated it to what is happening in our stars at this time and updated it to be relevant to our current world. These predictions cover the entire timeframe from February to December. I do think that the largest developments will happen in June, but it could take until December for the public to become widely aware.

What’s Happening in the Stars

We have the rare occurrence of the square of Saturn/Uranus that happens three times this year.  The first was February 17 the second is June 14 and the third December 24. The square this summer on June 14th is the most important one.  It happens against the backdrop of the lunar eclipse on May 26th and the Solar Eclipse on June 10th.  It is also affected by the aspect of Pluto on the North Node.  Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune are all in aspect to the Center of the Galaxy.  In the chart of the US, Saturn and Uranus natal positions are conjunct the North Node in the 3rd house Gemini and Pluto is conjunct the US natal Pluto in the 11th house Capricorn. All of these are important to consider, I have tried my best to take it all in and distill it down into predictions for you.

Astrological Predictions for 2021

I see the economic issues continuing with unemployment rising even higher.  There will be a push from the government for training in trade positions when Biden promotes his infrastructure program.  This will be promoted as putting America back to work.  Blue-collar workers will be the heroes of the campaign.  I see government programs for retraining workers into blue-collar trade positions.

Weather

I think we will see major weather-related issues this summer.  They will once again put emphasis on the Texas Power Grid and its mismanagement and reliability issues.  Most likely there will be extreme weather events all across the south-central US and to the west including Alaska. I also foresee a more active hurricane season. The northeast will see weather extremes and could possibly experience a very early cold weather event. There is also a slight possibility that Maine and Nova Scotia could see a hurricane on their shores this season, this rare event could cause some serious issues.

Politics

There will be news on the Capitol insurrection investigation.  The investigative teams will stumble across something that was trying to remain hidden leading them into a new area of investigation.  The discovery will be accidental but it will be a key discovery.

Trump will once again take over the news headlines.  Most likely regarding the outcome of the investigation into the Arizona election results.  He will use this to attempt to hold the spotlight once again and retain control of the Republican party.

There will begin to be a realization of “The Big Lie” among Trump supporters, but it will remain as an undercurrent and gossip.  It will begin to very slowly erode his support but there will be no real resolution to this issue until 2023.

There will be an announcement of a new investigation into the Trump family real estate dealings, this time going back many years, possibly as many as 30 or 40 years.  This won’t come from the government of the US.  I think this is going to come from a city or state agency.

COVID

COVID cases will surge in the southern US because of relaxed restrictions.  Expect numbers to climb until Mid-June to Mid-July.

The World Stage

The trouble with Russia and election interference is going to escalate to a very serious point.  Tensions will be high enough that there is a concern of war on the horizon.  I don’t think it will get to that point though.  I believe Putin’s health will have an issue, or Russia itself will experience health issues.  He will possibly disappear from public view for a while if it is Putin, or it could be a huge surge in COVID in Russia.  The health issues could be with Biden, but I am seeing more Russia than the US in this one.  Whatever it is, I think it will be health-related and enough to take focus from tensions between nations to let things cool off before we get to the point of war. It has also been brought to my attention that there is a possibility this could be a cyberwar. With Pluto’s involvement that is entirely possible.

I believe that the unrest in Isreal and Palestine will flare up and there will be military action in the region.  This might cause world leaders to be forced to align themselves with one side or the other.  This will not be good for any country as there is no “good” choice.  These alignments are going to cause long-term tensions between nations.

Historical Context

We are living through an astrological time period of major planetary periods. Huge shifts in public policy and thinking are at our doorstep. Last year’s conjunction Jupiter and Saturn is called the Great Conjunction for a reason. In the past, this conjunction has ushered in huge societal changes. The lesser-known conjunction of the south nodes of Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn has never happened in recorded history. The last time they came close was over 2000 years ago in 783 CE. This was the rise of Charlemagne and the formation of the Holy Roman Empire.

This is a turning point in our civilization. Saturn Pluto conjunctions tend to shape the collective infrastructure. When they involve the nodes they shape movements within civilizations. In 1518 when only one node was involved in the conjunction it shook religion and culture to its core. This was the time of the Protestant Reformation with Martin Luther and John Calvin. (This was the breaking point for the Catholic Church’s hold over Europe and the founding moment for the Luthern and Calvinist religions.) This conjunction will usher in a change in society that we will see develop over the coming years. I see that movement leaning toward a people-centered society with more consideration given for the individual’s well-being over the capitalistic society we currently have.

What Can I Do?

To wrap it up, we are living in a time of great change. This level of change hasn’t been seen before in the written history of mankind. No one likes change, it is difficult and we will see resistance along the way. We might even experience it ourselves. The best advice I can give to you is to realize change will come, even if you resist. It just makes it more difficult for you when you resist. Be kind to yourself and others. Realize this is hard for everyone and you are not alone. Seek out support from your community and friends. If you can’t find it, perhaps it is up to you to create it.

Also, remember that we are privileged to witness this. We have been chosen to be here at this time for a reason. It is an honor to bear witness and to be an actor, no matter how small the part, on the stage of life during such major societal shifts.
